On my process…
I’m determined that my production of Hamle† be so completely steeped in the 1990s that even in the writing process I am striving to transport myself to those times. I’m using a Brother Word Processor and listening to a lot of period music on my Discman: Matchbox Twenty, Soul Asylum and Early Backstreet Boys have all served to stir my muse and help me find my characters and settings. The act of being inside these 20th Century times allows me to turn this piece not just into an awesome film for the whole world to enjoy, but into a more personal experience, a journey, for the filmmaker himself. Akin to the way a method actor becomes his character, I must immerse myself into the 1990s, inhabit these times and then summon William Shakespeare’s characters into that world. It’s a thrilling experience that has never been done before by me and I hope we can all be transported together through this blog and then through the movie. 2 b or not 2 b!
